A short film
An 1832 hand press, the kind every picture on these shirts was first printed on. Printed from the 1800s to today.
In a print shop, a galley is the tray that holds type once it has been set, which is the other half of our name. These shirts are for printers, letterpress fans and anyone who likes old type: an 1832 wooden hand press on Ink & Iron, a broadside poster with a warship on Broadside and a filled-in bill of lading.
Every picture is a cut from a 19th-century type foundry’s specimen book, set the way a jobbing printer would have set it. The specimen book lists each cut with its catalogue number.
